Lipoma of the floor of the Mouth; A case Report and Review of Literature

Abstract
Lipoma is a benign tumor of the adipose tissue, and it constitutes the most common benign neoplasm in the human body. However, its occurrence in the mouth is rare. We report a case of lipoma occurring on the floor of the mouth in a 47-year-old male farmer. He presented with a 3-year history of painless, intact swelling in the floor of the mouth, which does not affect the functional activity of the oral cavity. An excisional biopsy revealed lobules of mature adipocytes with eccentric nuclei and abundant clear cytoplasm. The healing was uneventful, and no recurrence was observed during the 2-year follow-up.
