Abstract
Addressing Feeding and Speech Challenges in Cleft Palate Through Obturator Therapy: A Case Series

Cleft lip and palate (CLCP) are the most common congenital anomalies of the orofacial region, with an incidence ranging from 0.25 to 1.56 per 1000 live births in India and 0.28 to 3.74 globally. Around 50% of cases involve both cleft lip and palate, followed by cleft palate alone, with cleft lip being least frequent. These defects result from incomplete fusion of the nasal septum with the medial and lateral nasal processes and can be unilateral or bilateral. The resulting oroantral communication hinders feeding due to nasal regurgitation and prolonged feeding time. This article presents case reports demonstrating the effective use of different obturators in managing CLCP.

Key words: Case Series; Cleft Palate; Obturator; Oral Rehabilitation
